This month’s Town Hall includes important updates about the San Jacinto River Waste Pits Superfund Site, the Jones Road Groundwater Plume Superfund Site and information regarding public health reporting and the creosote contamination in Houston’s Greater Fifth Ward.

SAN JACINTO RIVER WASTE PITS SUPERFUND SITE
- Waste Pit specific updates to be provided on status of 30% design and treatability study.
- We will discuss Waste Classification and new updates from TXDOT.
JONES ROAD GROUNDWATER PLUME SUPERFUND SITE
- Updates on residential groundwater sampling, more information related to the toxic vapors found in the shopping center that sits above the Superfund Site and an important call-to-action for all local residents.
GREATER 5TH WARD
- A holistic look at what’s known about the community’s health and the historical information related to the Union Pacific Creosote contamination. We will also discuss recent zoom discussions we’ve co-hosted with the Center for Health, Environment, and Justice.
