Do I Live Near A Superfund Site?

Harris County is home to most of the Superfund sites in the state of Texas.  Yet many people who live near them are unaware of their presence or the threat they may present. We get a lot of questions about site locations.

The EPA recently created a special online mapping tool that allows you to zoom in on your neighborhood and find the closest Superfund site.

The EPA has another map that gives much more detail including Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) locations, like the neighborhood near the Union Pacific railyard in Greater Fifth Ward, as well as Brownfield properties. It also allows you to look at the impact of rising sea levels and increased flooding has on known toxic waste sites.
